OAU SHUTDOWN OVER 1.8bn TAX ENVASION

The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has been reportedly shutdown by the Osun State Internal Revenue Service for its failure to remit over N1.844,770,939.45 to the agency.

The institution was shut by officials of the Revenue Task Force who arrived at the campus at about 7:00 on Wednesday 2nd of may to have the school shut closed until a meeting or agreement is reached between the management of the OAU and Osun State Government



According to news agency and correspondence, It was gathered that the officials first sealed the Senate Chamber/building and then the administrative building before proceeding to seal the main gate, leaving the pedestrial gate unlocked.

When contacted, the school mangemnt through the Public Relation officer siad the debt was inherited from the past administration of the institution and not the current one. But has however assured the students and general public that the issue will be resolved soon with the State Government.
