SEE THE ONLY NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY RANKED IN THE WORLD

Yet again it is the University of Ibadan, the University has been long known for its academic excellence and has successfully made it to the world university ranking, making it the only Nigerian University on the list. The University of Ibadan was ranked 801 in the whole world with several others

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (AWRU) and
and centerer for World Universities Ranking (CWUR) were responsible for the inclusion of University of Ibadan; These organizations had released a list of top 500 and 100 in 2016, but no Nigerian University was presented then.


CWUR reported that Nigerian universities were not considered for the ranking earlier because of lack of quality research and presentational development.

AWRU on the other hand did not give a reason for Nigeria’s absence,  but they made clear explanation on the criteria for ranking the univerties some of which were:

•The number of alumni and staff publishing journals in Nature  •Science, The number of alumni and staff winning Nobel prizes and Field medals.


South Africa and Egypt had the highest number of universities on the list from the continent.
