Jamb Arrested A Cbt Centre owner for extorting students

A Methodist Reverend has been arrested in abia state over alleged extortion of money from JAMB UTME2018 CANDIDATES, Mr Chuka Egwouonwu was said to have collected over N126,000 from students illegally.

While reporting this at jamb headquarter in Abuja , Mr Patrick Ukpan, commandant, Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corp [NSCDC] FCT Command, said the suspect who owned a CBT centre called Diamond ICT Centre Was seen extorting Money from students through the CCTV camera, he said the CCTV camera mounted and monitored in Abuja captured the illegal activity live.

Based on that, he was arrested as every action and move in the CBT Hall were captured live and transmitted for monitoring at jamb national headquarters in Abuja, the activities were corroborated by the CCTV intelligence and so lead to the arrest of the accused.

However the suspect said, those who extort the money from candidates do not work for him, " I learnt about the issue very late, and while trying to make enquiry and striving hard to put things in place and resolve the issue by adjusting few necessary corrections, the NSCDC Already arrived to make an arrest"

The jamb spokesman Dr Fabian Benjamin, added that there should be a link between the tutorial centre that extort money from the students and the CBT centre , he said " I recalled the protest held in Lagos sometimes around February where students were demanding that jamb Registration be extended, these tutorial centre were there to extort money from the students, it's certainly not the will of the student to have their exam at later time but they were convinced by tutorial owners, so they can can keep the students for a longer Time and continue to take their money, Obviously, these centres wants to have enough time for registration so as to equally extort money from the student's as well".

He also said the arrest was initiated after the boards confirmed the illegal actions, this should serve a great lesson to some tutorials and CBT owners , whose aim is to extort students despites that such belittles the integrity of the Boards and as well as it's examination body.

Dr Fabian Benjamin said tutorial centres are killing the Educational development & progress of the country.
