Jamb Registrar Speaks On Mock Exam
The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede said out of 258,000 candidates that registered for jamb mock exam only 211,000 sat for the exam. This was due to mal-functioning of few systems in some accredited CBT centers across the nation.
While speaking with some news agency, the registrar said, the board are fully aware of unavailability of space in some states, which in one way or the other have hindered the sitting of the mock exam and caused few thousands of students the inability to sit for it, however indigene of every States were urge to make profession for availability of cbt centres.
While speaking with the news agency profession Oloyede said only 6 CBT centers out of 602 had challenges and issues in the conduct of the examination, he said:
"We are aware that some candidates could not sit for the mock exam, however as a means of alternative to aid better communication, that was why we introduced the use of E-mail address to send the candidates their venue and time of examinations, for candidates who are duly registered for the exam but could not sit for it shall be rescheduled to another CBT CENTRE, we are not stick to a particular CBT CENTRE for operation, if one Centre does not work we take our candidates to another, candidates who misses the exam on 26th shall be communicated through their email of a new schedule. He made it known that the exam is meant to hold for 3days so rescheduling the candidates to another center wouldn't be much of a problem".
Furthering his speech, he said, the board have ensured that enough facilities is put in place and students are not likely to experience power failure, system failure or service time out. Additional strength has been added to the server, this doesn't mean MTN,GLO OR AIRTEL, jamb doesn't conducts her exams on the internet, "when i said server strength, I meant the cables that are interconnected to ensure proper utilization and submission are well in place and are working effectively.
For the private cbt centre's, we have discovered some centres that cut corners , example, if 240,000 students are to sit for the exam, and 40,000 logged out of the exam by mistake or server error Jamb would pay the CBT CENTRE for 40,000 students but that won't happen this year, Jamb shall be responsible for only the payment of students who are totally absent as that isn't any fault of the CBT CENTRE owners
Further more The Registrar Advice parents who follow their children to the CBT centres to completely desist from such act.
" we are not in the KG neither are these students, we are preparing them for higher institution , a place you can't follow them,live or stay with them, so let's do our job here to ensure maintainance and proper sanity".
Meanwhile the date of the exam hasn't changed yet
Exam still starts by March 9 and end by 17th
